Please note that enrollment in a course or program through UEE does not constitute admission to California State University, Stanislaus.

Registration Deadlines

It is recommended you enroll in courses as soon as possible, some of our programs fill and have wait lists. Full payment of course fees are required at the time of enrollment. Advance registration is not permitted for Open University.

Please do not put a stop payment on a check to withdraw from a course. This results in a financial obligation to the University for the course fee; you will be assessed a $25.00 dishonored check fee.

Early Enrollment

Some classes fill early. It is recommended that you enroll at least one week prior to the class start date to assure a space in the course. Classes can only be offered if a sufficient number of students have enrolled prior to the first class meeting. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled. By enrolling early, you can help us avoid canceling classes unnecessarily.

Fees

All programs offered by University Extended Education are required to be self-supporting. Fees for non-credit classes and seminars vary with the course offering. Some classes, both credit and non-credit, may have additional costs.

Fees appear with each course description. For returned checks, a $25 dishonored check fee will be charged. Fees are subject to change by the Chancellor's Office without notice.

Financial Assistance

Can I get funding for my training?

You probably already know that training is a wise investment, and often results in improving your career and your income. And while our classes are very affordable, we understand many of our students may need financial assistance. Extended Education is similar to many continuing education programs that do not directly offer financial aid to students. However, financial assistance is available from private sources such as the lenders below. Please note that loans are strictly the responsibility of the student and the lender, and that University Extended Education assumes no liability.

Key Education Loans

Another continuing education loan students may want to consider is the Key Education loan. This loan offers:

• No application fee and no pre-payment penalties
• A one year deferment
• Students have up to 15 years to repay the loan
• An instant credit decision by applying online at the Key loan web site

For Unemployed Adults

Those who are unemployed may work with the Department of Employment and Training (DET) to find employment assistance, and sometimes they may be assisted by DET in the funding of professional and career focused training. University Extended Education is an approved vendor for the Stanislaus County DET.

The DET's financial assistance for training is determined on a case by case basis. We encourage you to work with the department with the understanding that they will assist you in bettering your employment situation as they see appropriate, so please meet with a DET Case Manager to find out if this is the right path for you.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

Some courses offer Continuing Education Units (CEU) which are nationally recognized units of credit for professional development. CEUs are useful where employers, re-licensing agencies and other authorities require a specified number of hours of instruction for career advancement purposes. One CEU is awarded for each ten hour block of instruction. Fewer than ten hours are shown as fractional CEUs. For example, an eight-hour session earns .8 CEUs; a course of 30 hours earns 3.0 CEUs.

Drops and Refunds

Dropping a course

If you wish to drop a course you must submit written notification to University Extended Education (UEE) at least 3 business days before the start date of the course to be eligible for a full refund.

Notification of dropping consists of the following:

• Completed drop form (student signature required)
• Completed Request for Refund (student signature required)

Forms will not be processed without the appropriate signatures. Do not put a stop payment on a check to drop a course. This will result in a financial obligation to the University for the course fee; you will be assessed a $25.00 dishonored check fee.

Refunds

• If a refund is requested after the first class meeting of a course with four meetings or less, no refund can be processed.
• If a refund is requested after the first class meeting of a course with five meetings or more, 65 percent of fees collected will be refunded until 25 percent of the course time has elapsed, after which no refund will be made.
• No refunds (full, partial or otherwise) are available for one day workshops.
• Material fees are non-refundable.
• Students who fail to show up for a class (No-Shows), without prior notification to UEE, will not be refunded any portion of fees paid.

Note: There is a $25 administrative charge, per dropped course, for processing ALL refunds. All refunds will be issued by check. Please allow six to eight weeks for processing.

Refunds are governed by the State Administrative Code and the regulations are very stringent. If you want to drop a class, immediately contact Extended Education at (209) 667-3111 to see if any refund is available. The amount of the refund will be dependent upon when your application for refund is received by University Extended Education. Once a class begins, the refund for that class decreases substantially. Funds owed to you by the State of California may be withheld as payment against any unpaid obligation to the University.

Specific refund policy for online Career Certificate Programs offered in partnership with Gatlin Educational Services.

If you wish to withdraw from any program you must notify the office of Extended Education either by phone @ 209-667-3111 or by email uee@csustan.edu within 48 hours after registration stating, your intent to withdraw. There is a $10.00 administrative fee for processing your request. No refunds (full, partial or otherwise) are allowed after the 48 hour period has expired.

Parking on Campus

Students and visiting instructors may park in coin lots at $2.00 per day (rates subject to change). Entrances to coin operated lots are located off Monte Vista Avenue at Crowell and at University Circle. Parking is enforced Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On weekends, parking is free.

Verification Letters

Students requesting a letter verifying grades or completion of a class will be charged $2.00 per letter. When requesting a letter of verification please include the following information:

1. Your full name
2. Your social security number
3. The address you want the letter mailed to
4. A phone number where you can be reached
5. The title of the class you completed
6. The term you completed the class

Transcript Requests

To request a copy of your transcript, contact the Records Office in person or call (209) 667-3151. There is a $4 fee for one transcript and a $2 fee for each additional copy requested at the same time.

Cancelled Courses and Room Changes

Due to circumstances beyond our control, University Extended Education may sometimes cancel a class, postpone or combine classes or change instructors. If UEE cancels a class, a full refund is automatically issued to eligible students.

Auditing a Class

On a space available basis, students may audit a course by sitting in on the course meetings without receiving credit. When auditing, you will still be required to register for the course and pay your full fees.

Privacy and Non-Discrimination Policy

University Extended Education complies with policies that are mandated by the University in regards to the privacy of student records and the nondiscrimination policy. Please see the University catalog for the full description of these policies.

Tax Deduction Information

Treasury regulation 1.162-5 permits an income tax deduction for certain educational expenses (registration and tuition fees and cost of travel, meals and lodging) undertaken to: (1) maintain or improve skills required in one's employment or (2) meet requirements of an employer or a law imposed as a condition to retention of employment, job status or rate of compensation. Refer to current IRS regulations. Students are required to provide the University with their correct social security numbers (individual taxpayer identification numbers) pursuant to the authority contained in Section 41201, Title 5, California Code of Regulations, and Section 6109 of the Internal Revenue Code. The University uses the Social Security Number to identify records pertaining to the student and, if needed, to collect debts owed the University. Also, the IRS requires the University to file information returns that include the student's social security number and other information such as the amount paid for qualified tuition, related expenses and interest on educational loans. That information is used to help determine whether a student or a person claiming a student as a dependent, may take a credit or deduction to reduce federal income taxes. Students who do not have a social security number at the time of enrollment will be required to obtain a social security number and submit it to the University within sixty days. Failure to furnish a correct social security number may result in the imposition of a penalty by the Internal Revenue Service.

Campus Security & Crime Statistics

California State University, Stanislaus annual security report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by California State University, Stanislaus and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault and other matters.
